Watercolour Sketchbook – Spread 11

On the left page, I tried blocking out the dress first before adding the flesh, hair and chair. Found it too stilted with no real sense of weight so tried to do the same image again on the right, this time blocking out the entire silhouette with the flesh down before building up the other elements with fewer colours. Could probably have been bolder with the shadows, especially on the dress, but am happier with the more cohesive look and natural pose.
